LabGenius is a biopharmaceutical company developing next generation protein therapeutics using a machine learning-driven evolution engine.

They are a London-based, privately-owned company, backed by top-tier venture capital funds.

The Challenge

For the vast majority of the team, LabGenius was their first time working within a commercial context (let alone a fast-paced startup). Equally most of LabGenius’ managers were new to people management. LabGenius needed to design + embed new practices for performance enablement. Ultimately, they wanted to empower their managers to nurture happy + high-performing teams, and in doing so also protect a supportive, caring culture across the business.

The Solution

LabGenius engaged us to create impactful solutions specifically around introducing technology to support performance enablement (that scaled with the business) + to upskill managers to have regular + effective conversations around performance, motivation, pace + development. Working with LabGenius’ Head of People, we:

  • Undertook a Performance Discovery to gain better insight into LabGenius’ challenges in this area
  • Utilised design thinking to create a series of manager workshops aimed at upskilling managers in the key skills required to support high performing teams (from delivering effective feedback + holding difficult conversations, and nailing 1:1s)
  • Project managed the implementation of LabGenius’ chosen performance enablement platform (Lattice) + delivered company-wide training + created training resources following its introduction

“Our whole team thoroughly enjoyed working with Unleashed. The training that our Unleashed partner Liz delivered + the tools that were provided to our managers accelerated each of their personal growth journeys and also had a major impact across the whole organisation.”

CEO & Founder @ LabGenius
